Driving Directions
From the Cincinnati or Louisville Areas - Take I-71 to exit 44, Carrollton. Turn right on Highway 227 to General Butler State Resort Park.
The resort is located 44 miles northeast of Louisville. From Louisville, take I-71 to Carrollton. If you are coming from the Huntington area traveling west off of I-64, take exit #172. Drive north on Hwy 1, to Triple A Hwy north. Take Triple A Hwy North to I-275 West. Drive West on I-275 to I- 71/75 South, then I-71 South to Exit 44. Turn right on Hwy 227 to the Park.

Here are the answers to some of your Mucking questions.
How much does it cost?
Early Bird Special $70: 10/1/12-10/31/12
$80: 11/1/12-4/10/13
$85: 4/11/13-5/9/13
$100: Packet Pickup/Race Day
How many people can be on a team?
You can have as many people on your team as you choose. The only exception to this is if your team wants to compete against other teams. In this case, you must have at least 5 people on your team. FYI: everyone on the team completes the entire course.
Do I have to pay to be a spectator?
Spectators are free! We welcome them to come watch the muddy fun!
Where do I pick up my Mudathlon® Packet/How long is packet pick up?
Packets are picked-up on the day of the Mudathlon®, at the Mudathlon® site. Packet pick-up opens at 7:00 am and goes until the last wave of the day.
What is in a Mudathlon® packet?
Your timing chip, bib, t-shirt, slap on can koozie, and car decal!
How old must I be to be a Mudathlete®?
14 years old is our minimum. If you are under 18 your parent or guardian must sign the waiver for you and the waiver must be brought to the event.
Can I register on site?
Yes, race day registration will be available on site for $100.
Can I transfer my bib to another participant?
Yes, however these guidelines must be followed:
1. Transfers can only be taken race day.
2. The new participant must have an email or note from the person they are replacing stating it is okay for them to take their bib.
3. Transfers are $20
4. All new participants must fill out a registration form and waiver.
How do I create a team?
Go to Mudathlon.com/Teams and scroll down to the event location of your choice. You will be directed to the team registration page where you will not be charged for creating your team. However, once you have created your team, you must register yourself as an individual. Be sure to choose "Joining a Team" and then choose your newly created team from the scroll down menu.
What do I need to bring to the Mudathlon®?
A photo ID
A signed copy of the event Waiver
An extra set of clothes and a towel
Money (for extra beer)
Bug Spray
A good Mucking Attitude
What do Mudathletes® wear?
Obviously, clothes to get dirty. Costumes are also encouraged as long as they don’t inhibit your ability to maneuver obstacles. Please wear shoes, this terrain is not meant for bare feet.
How early should I arrive to the Mudathlon®?
We encourage arriving one hour before your start time. You choose your start time when you register for the Mudathlon®. In addition to picking up you bib, timing chip, and t-shirt. You also have to watch some other Mudathlete's® get mucky to prepare for your own adventure.
I am not much of an athlete, can I be a Mudathlete®?
Absolutely, there are definitely challenging aspects to the course and some challenging obstacles. However, if you can't complete an obstacle, you can pass it by. Even though that will disqualify you from award eligibility, it won't disqualify you from having a Mucking Good Time™.
What if I can't complete the course?
The Mudathlon® will have lots of course monitors and medical personnel. If you find you can't continue the race, The Mudathlon® will have the means to get you back to the post-race party or to the medical tent at the finish area.
How will you time the Mudathlon®?
The Mudathlon® uses chip timing that is activated when you cross the start and finish lines. The Mudathlon® will remove the chips post-event for you.
Mudathletes® get Muddy, can I rinse after the Mudathlon®?
The Mudathlon® will have showers or a rinse area available in the post-race area.
Will there be a gear check at the Mudathlon®?
Yes, for Mudathlon-Northwest Indiana and Cincinnati. Mudathlon-Northern Kentucky and Indianapolis will only have key check available.
